Academics, Pool and Ocean - 5 days

PADI Open Water Certification

The Open Water Certification starts ones journey into the underwater world and is the beginning level certification. This class consists of online academics, equipment assembly, pool skills, and four open water dives to become certified as a PADI Open Water Diver. By the end of this course you will be certified to dive to 60 ft (40 ft for Junior Padi Open Water divers)

We offer a few different course formats and date structures depending on your scheduling needs.


Each student will be required to complete the online course work (6-8 hours) prior to the first day of class.

Schedule: Weekend Course

  • Friday 5:45 - 9:00pm (At Pacific Ocean Sports)
  • Saturday 10:00 - 4:00pm (Pool in Walnut Creek)
  • Sunday 6:45 - 12:00pm (Pool in Walnut Creek)

     Following Weekend

  • Saturday in Monterey or Tahoe (7:00 -2:00pm)
  • Sunday in Monterey or Tahoe (7:00 - 12:00pm)

Schedule: Weeknight Course (We offer two different weeknight course formats)

  • Monday/Wednesday/Monday (6:00 - 9:00pm)

Or

  • Tuesday/Thursday/Tuesday (6:00 - 9:00pm)

   Following Weekend

  • Saturday in Monterey or Tahoe (7:00 -2:00pm)
  • Sunday in Monterey or Tahoe (7:00 - 12:00pm)

Price - Standard Class Format:

  • 14 + years old - $800.00
  • 10 - 13 years old - $1100 (Increased cost due to additional Instructor required)

Price - Semi-Custom Format: If the scheduled classroom and pool dates do not work with your schedule, you can sign up for a semi-custom course that allows you to schedule the classroom and pool dates at your convenience. You would still have to sign up for a scheduled ocean weekend to complete the ocean dives. 

  • 14 + years old - $975
  • 10 - 13 years old - $1275 (Increased cost due to additional Instructor required)

Price - Custom Format: If our schedule does not work with your schedule, you can sign up for a custom Monterey, Aquatic Park or Lake Berryessa course that allows you to schedule all sessions at the mutually agree upon times with your instructor.

  • 10 + years old - $1350

Course Requirements:

Online Coursework: Completed prior to the start of your course.

Pool Training: 24 Skills

Swim Test: 200 Yard Swim and a 10 Min Tread/Float

Four (4) Open Water Dives with a Maximum Depth: Dives 1/2: Up to 40 feet. Dives 3/4: Up to 60 feet. 

Age Requirements: Min age: 10 years old.

Equipment: All equipment is provided for the course

PADI Open Water Certification: Full Custom Format with Dives in Monterey - $1350.00

​This is a complete customized course to fit your scheduling needs. This format is usually 1:1. You will schedule dates/times for the academic/pool/Monterey dives - Dates/Times: Scheduled with our Instructor Staff

PADI Open Water Certification: Full Custom Format with Dives at the Aquatic Park in San Francisco - $1350.00

​This is a complete customized course to fit your scheduling needs. Schedule your classroom/pool session(s) 1:1 with an instructor on dates that fit with your schedule. This ALSO includes your certification dives at the Aquatic Park in San Francisco to be scheduled at your convenience.

PADI Open Water Certification: Full Custom Format with Dives in Shadow Cliffs Reservoir - $1000.00

Closed due to low water levels

​This is a complete customized course to fit your scheduling needs. Schedule your classroom/pool session(s) 1:1 with an instructor on dates that fit with your schedule. This ALSO includes your certification dives at  Shadow Cliffs Reservoir in Livermore to be scheduled at your convenience. The water is warmer for those not wanting to dive in Monterey and is easier to finish the dives for those that are in a time crunch.

Includes EVERYTHING needed for the class, including: E-Learning, instruction, all required scuba gear for the pool and the ocean.
